We have begun with the Grade 2 classes how we can help people in our community. After a brainstorming session, we have chosen to take on the Mayor’s Christmas Food Drive for the Calgary Food Bank. We met today to discuss the various jobs that are needed for this project. There are 5 different jobs that the students have learned about and will pick one to be part of our project. Some of the jobs will need to be done at the beginning, others will start and go through to the end and other jobs will be completed at the end of our project.
The jobs are:
- Artists – creating posters advertising the Food Bank
- Broadcasters – creating and reading a script for announcements
- Public Relations – creating and reading a script in various different classrooms
- Accountants – calculating the totals for the monetary donations
- Mathematicians – counting the physical food in the bins

Larry's Losing Streak
At school, Larry the Lion lost one thing a day for 2 weeks.
How many things did he lose all together?
How do you know?
