Music Monday
Please join us for our special "Music Monday's Celebration" assembly on May 1st at 1:00 pm in the gym. This is an annual event that brings together students, musicians, parents and community members to celebrate the gift of music in our lives.
We hope to see you there!
Community Announcement:
As many of you know, I belong to Westwinds Music Society, which is an adult group that has concert bands, choirs, and jazz ensembles. I am involved in Concert band and Choir. I have never offered the chance for students to come to my concerts as often they are in the evening and the concert band I am in usually plays last. This makes for a late evening for children. Some of the students expressed an interest in seeing me perform. So. . .
On May 13th there is a free concert at Park 96. This is our Year-End Family Fun Day. It starts at noon and goes to about 4pm. All the Westwinds Concert Bands and Choirs will be performing in this beautiful outdoor venue.
There are food trucks, beverage tent, and other fun activities. You would just need to bring a chair and come and enjoy the music.
I do not have a schedule as yet for this day. I will let you know as soon as I know what times I am either singing or playing.

What we have done today:
- We had buddies and our buddies could finally read aloud to us. (CG)
- We had gym and in the gym we were playing Everybody’s It Tag. (LB)
- We had Poetry Party and most of us were able to choose a new poem. (DJ)
- We had the last round of math centers. (BD)
- We played Make, Tell, and Show and we had to make something sport related. (BB)
- We estimated how many pennies long we are. (EH)
Daily Challenge:
Today we looked at another class as they measured themselves with pennies. We have been measuring things that are 10 pennies long. We have estimated how many pennies tall we are. The discussion at the end of the day was how many pennies do I (Miss Konno) need to bring to school to measure students on Monday. We will be measuring during our math centers throughout the week and there will be 3-4 students per group.
