Community Announcement:
As many of you know, I belong to Westwinds Music Society, which is an adult group that has concert bands, choirs, and jazz ensembles. I am involved in Concert band and Choir. I have never offered the chance for students to come to my concerts as often they are in the evening and the concert band I am in usually plays last. This makes for a late evening for children. Some of the students expressed an interest in seeing me perform. So. . .
On May 13th there is a free concert at Park 96. This is our Year-End Family Fun Day. It starts at noon and goes to about 4pm. All the Westwinds Concert Bands and Choirs will be performing in this beautiful outdoor venue.
There are food trucks, beverage tent, and other fun activities. You would just need to bring a chair and come and enjoy the music.
I do not have a schedule as yet for this day. I will let you know as soon as I know what times I am either singing or playing.

Daily Challenge:
We were surprised to learn that there are magnets in this household appliance. Can you remember how you can check to see if there is a magnet there? We were very surprised to learn that the Earth is a giant magnet. It created a lot of discussion about how we could find out.
Share with your family some other things you learned about magnets after listening to the book being read today. You can also share what we are going to ‘test’ to find out more about magnets.
