Hello everyone,
Thinking Gum:
We have had a discussion about ‘thinking gum’ in the classroom. I do not have an issue with someone chewing small pieces of gum to help them focus upon their work. The rules are that they must remain seated, the gum is chewed quietly in the mouth, the gum stays in the mouth and we do not share it with others. The student is responsible for keeping it safe in their desk and using it as a tool to help them focus.
Social Studies
We have started discussing Urban and Rural communities with our students in the classroom. We started with a picture sort to identify what we may see in the different communities. The students were asked to share with their families some similarities and differences they saw in the pictures. The challenge yesterday was to draw a picture of themselves in an urban or rural setting and to bring it into class to share. We have had a few come in and would like a few more before Spring Break to share with the class.

What have we learned today:
Please note that we have changed our way of describing our day. Instead of sharing what we have done today, we are sharing what we may have learned personally or together as a large group.
Daily Challenge:
We will be planning and building Leprechaun traps in the classroom. We will be planning on paper on Tuesday and then building on Wednesday. The students will be using what they can find in the classroom to help them build the trap. The students will individually plan and then they will be grouped together to create a plan for a ‘super trap’ together.
For those who have planned and built a trap, think about what you might plan to make your trap ‘more’ successful. For those who have not planned or built a trap, think about what you might plan to catch the Leprechaun.
