FIELD TRIP – Arts Commons
Our day today was a lot of learning and fun!! It was a great day to walk to Devonian Gardens to have lunch and see the art on the walls and see nature's art in the planters and gardens.

To get to it:
Go to POW website
Click on Agendas and Blog button
Find Miss Konno and click on 'website' that is beside the 'blog'
Remember to send:
- lunch and snacks
- water bottle – It can come to school empty and then we can fill it up when we get to the Arts Commons
- backpack to carry everything (journal and pencil case)
Parent volunteers:
- Make sure you bring a lunch, snacks, and I will supply you with a journal and pencils
- Please be at the school by 9:15 to find out who is in your group
Please note: we will have time to do home reading and calendar before we get ready for the bus

Monday – Drama, galleries around the commons and walking to Glenbow Museum
Tuesday – Songwriting, Devonian Gardens for lunch and art walk down Stephen Avenue
Wednesday – Creative Movement, galleries around the commons and walking to City Hall
Thursday –Art, revisiting places around the Arts Commons
Field Trip Fees:
Please remember to pay the field trip fees. The notice came home at the end of September. The cost for all the field trips and in-school activities is $88.00. Payment can be made online by credit card as school fees. If online payment does not work for you, you may come in to pay using debit or credit at the office. We have been paying for our field trips so your prompt payment will help us with these fees. If you have any concerns with the lump sum payment, please contact Mrs. Pulfer, ([email protected]).
Volunteers for Monday mornings
There is a small group of moms who are reading Monday mornings and rotating through themselves to watch younger siblings in order so that they can volunteer. One of the moms lives right across from POW, which is where the childcare is taking place. If you are interested in this, please contact Andrea.

What we did today:
- We went on a field trip to Arts Commons and the Devonian Gardens. (CS)
- We wrote our own song about a monkey climbing a tree. (BS)
- We sketched after lunch. Some of us sketched a fish, wooden masks on the wall, flowers/plants, leaves, and trees. (Room 9)
- We played bump in the morning. (ES)
- We went to the arts commons and sang a song about peanut butter. (GO)
- We learned that sometimes songwriting can take weeks or sometimes days. (LB and KH)
- We learned that songs can be about different things; like some tell a story and some are just about a thing/feeling/topic. (MJ-S)
